We Are One!

I recently met up with a friend who’d just had a baby. Actually, she had the baby a couple of years ago. She just never could get away from mommy duties long enough to meet up. Apparently, when you become a parent, you kiss any semblance of “free time” goodbye. My friend spoke rather candidly about the not-so romantic sides of parenthood. The fears, the frustrations, and the torture of prolonged sleep deprivation. It’s like being a prisoner at Guantanamo Bay, only with more poop. None of that matters, I’m told. Because creating, nurturing, and guiding a new life is a deeply fulfilling experience. It is it’s own reward.

Kind of like how I feel about this website, because as far as I’m concerned running a website is like raising a kid. Electroshadow is essentially my brainchild. And today my baby of a website turns one year old.

Like any parent, I’ve gone through a whole lot of fears, frustrations and sleepless nights bringing Electroshadow to life. Nurturing the site, providing constant attention and care every single day to ensure it grows well, has been even harder. Fortunately, all the effort’s been worth it. According to web analytics, the site has now gotten over 1 million hits. People from all over the world frequent it, including readers from the United States of America, Canada, England, Germany, the Netherlands, Iceland(!), Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and various parts of Asia (not forgetting good old Malaysia). Pardon me for sounding self-congratulatory, but… I’m a very proud father!  *sheds theoretical tear of joy*
