Talk has been rife that the remake of the 2000AD comic Judge Dredd is in trouble. Reshoots have been taking place, according to a number of sources including Empireonline. Whatever the case, there is at least still time to fix whatever needs fixing, as “Dredd” doesn’t open til September. Meanwhile, a fresh batch of still images have been released, via the production’s official Twitter feed. Karl Urban still looks a little underwhelming in the iconic helmet, but I gotta say Olivia Thirlby is starting to grow on me as Psi Judge Anderson. Here are the shots…

“Dredd takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilization on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot – if necessary. The endlessly inventive mind of writer Alex Garland and the frenetic vision of director Peter Travis bring “Dredd” to life as a futuristic neo-noir action film that returns the celebrated character to the dark, visceral incarnation from John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra’s revered comic strip.”

“Dredd” is written by Alex Garland. It premieres 21st September.

“‘Dredd’ is written by Alex Garland.” Ha ha, was that how the actual excerpt signed off or did you add it in yourself? Either way, good move. He inspires more faith in Dredd fans than does Peter Travis.

Pacman: That was my sign off. Garland’s a good writer.

He’s a good fit for Dredd, as is Danny Boyle. I just wish Danny Boyle was directing instead of producing.

Danny Boyle has nothing to do with this film.
