Skyfall Videoblog Episode 1

Peter Jackson’s video diaries for “The Hobbit” seems to have rubbed off on Sam Mendes. The Brit director (“American Beauty”) has now started his own “videoblog” series documenting the making of the 23rd James Bond film, “Skyfall”. I’ve always liked Mendes as a filmmaker — he strikes me as an intelligent man who carefully considers each and every aspect of the filmmaking process, so a behind-the-scenes documentary of him at work would be worth following. This first episode is just a preliminary taste of what’s to come, and sees Mendes talking about his influences in making the movie. It’s a nice start, but I hope they delve a little deeper in subsequent instalments…

“Skyfall” stars Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Dame Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Berenice Marlohe, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney, Ben Whishaw, Helen McCrory, and Ola Rapace. It premieres 9th November.
