Prometheus 3-Minute Trailer
Whoa. Now I kinda wish I hadn’t seen this. Cos it made me both excited and just a bit annoyed that I know too much. After all, this is easily my most anticipated Summer film of 2012. And in the 3 minutes of footage Twentieth Century Fox shows off, there is a LOT of detail. For one, we finally get to see some of the nasty creatures that the ship’s crew discover on the other end of the known universe. And it reveals quite a bit about Meredith Vickers (Charlize Theron), the shady Weyland Industries rep. Then again, this could very well be clever misdirection. Who knows what the character’s real motivations are.
An amusing aside: when the dialogue exchange goes: “No, not a map. An invitation.” “From whom?”… The next thing we see are the words “From Ridley Scott”. Yes, this is indeed an invitation from the director, to step back into the world he so vividly brought to life over 30 years ago. And I can’t wait. Regardless of how much I’ve seen, there are definitely more surprises coming.
Here’s the official synopsis: “Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery.”
“Prometheus” stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green and Rafe Spall. It premieres 8th June.
