Flight Trailer
Welcome back, Robert Zemeckis. We missed you. After a lengthy spell making motion-capture animated movies, the director of such classics as “Back To The Future” and “Forrest Gump” returns to live action filmmaking. Many (including myself) felt that Zemeckis had been wasting his time and talents, since those mo-cap pics were mostly creepy and lifeless. With his latest film “Flight”, it’ll be anything but lifeless, seeing as how he’s got Oscar-winning star Denzel Washington as his leading man. The trailer doesn’t quite reveal what the film is really about though. Is it a study of heroism, a courtroom drama, a story of redemption, or all of the above? Whatever it is, I’m keen to see what Zemeckis does with the material here. I mean, that plane crash-landing sequence alone is better than a lot of so-called thrillers out there today…
Here’s the official synopsis: “Flight tells the redemption story of “Whip” (Washington), a commercial airline pilot who pulls off a heroic feat of flying in a damaged plane, saving 98 lives on a flight carrying 106 people. While the world begs to embrace him as a true American Hero, the everyman struggles with this label as he is forced to hold up to the scrutiny of an investigation that brings into question his behavior the night before the doomed flight.”
“Flight” also stars Kelly Reilly, Don Cheadle, Bruce Greenwood, Brian Geraghty, John Goodman, and Tamara Tunie. It premieres 2nd November in the US.
