It must be both exhilarating and terrifying as an actor to land the role of a real historical figure, what more one who was the most despised/revered/wanted man on the planet. I can imagine that when director Kathryn Bigelow’s casting people put out the call for someone to play Osama bin Laden, most eligible actors stayed away in droves. Then again, this could be a great breakthrough role for any actor brave enough to take it on. That actor would be Ricky Sekhon. Who? Yeah, he’s pretty much an unknown. Sekhon is a British national of Indian descent, with just one feature film to his credit so far (comedy “The Infidel”). Check out the pic of him above. The guy’s a dead ringer for bin Laden. Just add a beard and voila! — instant 9/11 mastermind.
The film Sekhon has been cast for still hasn’t got an official title, but is rumoured by inside sources to be called “Zero Dark Thirty”. As you probably would’ve read in Electroshadow’s report, the film is about the Navy SEAL operation that led to the assassination of the al Qaeda leader. Bigelow is currently shooting in Chandigarh, India, were Sekhon has reportedly completed his scenes. It’s likely to be a small role, but still a noticeable one for obvious reasons.
The film is still targeted for a 19th December release, after being postponed from October due to accusations it might be taking advantage of the upcoming US elections.
