The Dark Knight Rises Trailer 4
Warner Bros has started taking notice of the criticism over their promotional approach to the 3rd and final Batman film by Christopher Nolan. While the last trailer was solid, it had a slow, mournful tone that made fans and critics wonder if the film would be as epic as Nolan promised. In response, the studio has put together an action-packed trailer with a couple of “Holy shit!” moments. One of them is a scene between Bane and Batman. You’ll know it when you see it. Now THIS is how you sell a film.
Here’s the official: “Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ “The Dark Knight Rises” is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. Leading an all-star international cast, Oscar winner Christian Bale (“The Fighter”) again plays the dual role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film also stars Anne Hathaway, as Selina Kyle; Tom Hardy, as Bane; Oscar winner Marion Cotillard (“La Vie en Rose”), as Miranda Tate; and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as John Blake. Returning to the main cast, Oscar winner Michael Caine (“The Cider House Rules”) plays Alfred; Gary Oldman is Commissioner Gordon; and Oscar winner Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby”) reprises the role of Lucius Fox. The screenplay is written by Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer. The film is produced by Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Charles Roven, who previously teamed on “Batman Begins” and the record-breaking blockbuster “The Dark Knight.” The executive producers are Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Kevin De La Noy and Thomas Tull, with Jordan Goldberg serving as co-producer. The film is based upon characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. Batman was created by Bob Kane.”
“The Dark Knight Rises” premieres 20th July.

Can’t wait. Can’t wait. Can’t wait. May cry when it ends though.

Lisa: Cry? Don’t worry, Batman isn’t going to die. Probably. Or maybe he will. Not telling. Heh heh.

Well, hmm, characters don’t appear on a Nolan film for no purpose. And Joseph G-L is not exactly extra material. So maybe the symbol of justice continues in a different form but the man retires. =)
Also, comics aren’t like movies. Superheroes can die in comic books and return to life later and it’s fine because it’s just an accepted quirk of the comic universe. Nobody gets too upset unless a beloved superhero doesn’t get revived! But movies? People like to feel good at the end, especially if they’ve invested a couple of years’ worth of emotions in the hero character and watched the hero suffer beatings AND sacrifice himself in TDK. They want to be rewarded with good news, or at least comforted with an acceptable ‘compromise’.

Lisa: All I can tell you right now is that [SPOILER ALERT!] there will be two major character deaths in this film…
Btw, early critics screenings have been extremely positive, with one screening ending in a standing ovation.

Goyer indirectly confirms that Nolan will conduct “commercial sacrilege” with TDKR. Oh dear. Will definitely cry then. I’ve got advanced tickets for the show this Friday. Lord, help me tahan!
