Taken 2 Trailer
Liam Neeson has carved a comfortable niche for himself as the elder statesman of badassery. “Taken” was a solid, focused little action pic that delivered in a no-nonsense sort of way that was very much like his onscreen persona. It made quite a tidy sum at the Box Office too, so a sequel was a foregone conclusion. What hasn’t been so clear is how this follow-up would be in terms of quality. The original’s director Pierre Morel has been replaced by another Frenchman, the considerably less reliable Olivier Megaton. Some have snidely commented about the lack of originality of the sequel’s premise, where the family of the kidnappers from the first film seek revenge. But it’s not like the first one was all that original anyway. It just was a kickass flick, period. All this needs to do is maintain that consistency and it’ll be fine. Based on this trailer, Megaton is going by the adage “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”…
Here’s the official synopsis: “Liam Neeson returns as Bryan Mills, the retired CIA agent with a particular set of skills who stopped at nothing to save his daughter Kim from Albanian kidnappers. When the father of one of the kidnappers swears revenge and takes Bryan and his wife hostage during their family vacation in Istanbul, Bryan enlists Kim to help them escape, and uses the same advanced level of special forces tactics to get his family to safety and systematically take out the kidnappers one by one.”
“Taken 2″ also stars Maggie Grace, Famke Janssen, Rade Serbedzija, and Luke Grimes. It premieres 5th October.
