Cloud Atlas Trailer
Okay, so I’ve watched this 6-minute trailer several times now, and I still don’t know what the hell it’s about. All I know is that creators of “The Matrix” trilogy the Wachowskis are back, and they’ve teamed up with German director Tom Tykwer to bring us an epic that is as ambitious as it is abstract. It looks like they’ve committed quite an incredible vision to the big screen, and even if the film turns out to be a horrendously pretentious, incomprehensble mess, it will at the very least still make for some brilliant eye candy.
But don’t listen to me, take it from the filmmakers themselves. They’ve done a short intro video, where they provide an idea of what we can expect from “Cloud Atlas”. It’s a rare promotional appearance for the usually reclusive and publicity-shy Wachowskis. This also marks the first time (the former) Larry Wachowski is appearing officially as Lana Wachowski, after going through gender reassignment procedure. It’s a little surreal, but Lana seems pretty comfortable in her new identity. So power to her.
DIRECTORS’ INTRO
EXTENDED TRAILER
Here’s an attempt at an official synopsis: “Cloud Atlas explores how the actions and consequences of individual lives impact one another throughout the past, the present and the future. Action, mystery and romance weave dramatically through the story as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution in the distant future.”
“Cloud Atlas” boasts a massive cast in Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Doona Bae, Ben Whishaw, James D’Arcy, Xun Zhou, Keith David, David Gyasi, Susan Sarandon, and Hugh Grant. It premieres 26th October.

this is either going to be spectacular, or a massive headache. And it looks like it’ll be epic-long too. Guess we’ll see…

gwen10: Right now, if the Wachowskis’ last effort “Speed Racer” is any indication, I’m guessing it might be the latter. Hope to be wrong though…
