Late last year, Electroshadow brought you a casual snapshot of Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis (“There Will Be Blood”) in makeup as legendary US president Abraham Lincoln. Today, we have an official image of the actor, in a still from the film. And I gotta say: WOW. It’s like peering through a rift in the space-time continuum and catching a glimpse of the actual person himself. Day-Lewis is renowned for transforming himself physically for a role, but the credit here has got to go to the makeup effects artists. All signs are pointing to director Steven Spielberg’s film being a bonafide winner, and possibly even a serious Oscar contender.

Check out the photo that debuted on Entertainment Weekly. Interestingly, the background seems to suggest he’s in the theatre, where he met his untimely end [Spoiler Alert!] at the hands of crazed assassin John Wilkes Booth…

Here’s an official description: “The film is based on the best-selling book “Team of Rivals,” by Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Doris Kearns Goodwin. With a screenplay by Tony Kushner, the film will focus on the political collision of Lincoln and the powerful men of his cabinet on the road to abolition and the end of the Civil War.”

“Lincoln” also stars Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Hal Holbrook, James Spader, John Hawkes, Tim Blake Nelson, Bruce McGill, Joseph Cross, David Costabile, Byron Jennings, Dakin Matthews, Boris McGiver, Gloria Reuben, Jeremy Strong, David Warshofsky, David Strathairn, Walton Goggins, Lee Pace, Jackie Earle Haley, David Oyelowo and Jared Harris. It premieres 9th November in the US.
