This film may have been on release for some time already, but I just HAD to post it. For you, dear reader. Monday Blues? Need a pick-me-up? Well, you’ve come to the right place! Here is a Japanese movie from possibly insane auteur Shunichiro Miki called “The Warped Forest”. It’s a follow-up of sorts to 2005′s “The Funky Forest” and it is quite possibly the most batshit crazy, weird, incomprehensibly random thing you’ll see all week — heck, all year! The opening scene alone will make your day, I guarantee it. But be warned, this trailer is pretty unsafe for work. Enjoy, but please don’t ask me what the film is about…

Here’s a description of the film from the Hawaii International Film Festival that will just confuse the crap out of you, but is amusing nonetheless and therefore merits posting here: “Settle into your chair and be transported to a place both familiar and alien; where a giant shop-girl can barely fit in her store, there’s a weird green pod in every bedroom, and terrifying wood nymphs provide a heartbroken woman with the anatomically correct fruit everyone seems to covet. In the end we are left, like Alice, with the Red King’s conundrum: are we dreaming them or are they dreaming us?”

Don’t even dream of “The Warped Forest” getting a theatrical release here, but you might get lucky at your local DVD store.
