Peter Jackson likes involving the audience in his filmmaking process. He documents every step of his productions, and turns them into “video diaries”. These are basically a first-hand view of what goes into the making of expensive, elaborate films, like “The Hobbit”. It’s also like attending film school from the comfort of your home. The wealth of information and knowledge presented will turn any casual moviegoer into a semi-expert.
Jackson did it for all his previous big-budget films, and he’s doing it again. This will be the first in a long series of videos, each approximately 10 minutes in length. So please be patient and let it load. It’s worth it. As an aside, I particularly liked the Maori welcome ceremony. It’s great to see the New Zealanders embracing their cultural heritage so naturally. I have a special fondness for Kiwi culture, having spent my college years in Auckland. I even had the privilege of meeting Jackson himself, during the premiere of his horror film “The Frighteners”. Lovely man.
So sit back, relax and let the education begin…
