As much as I think Don Cheadle is a good actor, I did not enjoy his performance as James Rhodes aka War Machine in “Iron Man 2″. For one, it was too jarring a transition from Terrence Howard to him. Plus, his depiction of Rhodey was a little flat. But the War Machine armour is pretty badass, so I would definitely like to see more of it… and even Cheadle in it.
Sheila Roberts of movie site Collider managed to grab hold of the 46-year-old actor at a press junket for his upcoming film “The Guard”. Cheadle gave a very brief, but revealing idea of what’s going on with his character’s place in the big picture…
Sheila Roberts: Are there any future Marvel movies that you might be appearing in?
Don Cheadle: Well the Iron Man 3 is coming back. We’ll probably do that again in February and there’s talk of a War Machine spinoff, which I guess, unless I get recast, I would probably do.
SR: Will you be in The Avengers?
DC: Not this one that they’re shooting right now. Thank god!
SR: Was that ever in the works?
DC: Me being in The Avengers? I have a contract to be in The Avengers but I’m glad they haven’t exercised that option yet. I need some down time.
“The Avengers” premieres 4th May 2012, while “Iron Man 2″ is set to premiere 3rd May 2013.
