This is a strange one. It’s a sequel but not a sequel. Last year, Garry Marhall did a movie called ”Valentine’s Day”, featuring Jessica Biel and Ashton Kutcher in the lead roles. It did fairly well at the Box Office, and a sequel was quickly greenlit. Funnily enough, “New Year’s Eve” is another festive-themed story, is set in the same universe, and features the same leads, but this time they’re playing totally different characters. Could be a little confusing for audiences. Anyway, the story this time follows the mould of the original, where the lives of several New Yorkers intertwine over the course of one night.

The ensemble cast this round is even more massive, with some pretty big and diverse names like Robert De Niro, Katherine Heigl, Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin, Hilary Swank, Michelle Pfeiffer, Zac Efron, Sofia Vergara, Halle Berry, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sienna Miller, Alyssa Milano, Ryan Seacrest, Jon Bon Jovi, Ice Cube, Josh Duhamel and Greg Kinnear.

“New Year’s Eve” premieres 9th December in the US.
