Tom Hardy’s star is on the rise. The great buzz he got from “Bronson” and subsequently “Inception” was parlayed into high-profile roles in “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” and “The Dark Knight Rises”. Incidentally, both films co-star Gary Oldman too. And Hardy is currently good notices for his role as a mixed martial artist in “The Warrior”. The guy’s red hot.

Total Film managed to catch up with the very busy Brit actor in between his shooting schedule for Christopher Nolan’s 3rd Batman film. He expressed his enthusiasm for his role and the chance to work with Nolan again.

Hardy said: ”I think Bane’s f–ing cool so I’m really excited to play him. It’s not the guy in Joel Schumacher’s film, but it shouldn’t disappoint fanboys.”

“You’re asking me to come round the world with you in a Batman movie, playing a villain, and the only downside to it is I have to wear a mask?” Hardy deadpanned. “Hmmm, let me think. I’ll get back to you… No, I’m f–ing there, man! …Any time you put something over your face, you’re going to adopt a personality and a physicality that has nothing to do with acting. It allows a performance to be free.”

Hardy was also asked about the hotly-speculated rumour that Bane would severely injure Batman (Christian Bale) in hand-to-hand combat. Hardy was naturally evasive but dropped some hints: “All I can say is that Chris has a plan up his sleeve that’s not at all disappointing. And that is a definite choice that’s watertight in every respect.”

Here’s a couple of new shots from the Pittsburgh location shoot they’re currently doing now…

“The Dark Knight Rises” premieres 20th July 2012.
