After the critical and commercial success of “Inception” it’s surprising that there haven’t been a flood of projects on the subject of dreams or set in the dream world. It’s taken independent studio Safady Entertainment to make the first move. Today, they announced that they have acquired “Dreamt”, a psychological thriller with a supernatural bent.
The project is described as follows: “Set in modern day, Dreamt tells the tale of two people who have a supernatural connection and therefore are actually dreaming in each other’s lives. Conflict ensues after the men discover each other’s existence, leading one man to try to take over the other’s life and stopping at nothing to get it.”
In an official statement producer Gary Safady said: “We’re excited to tell a thrilling, exciting story with an amazing twist to it. The script has all the elements for intrigue and fascination to capture the audience from the opening frame of the film. Andrew has crafted an amazing story in the vain of ‘Memento’ and ‘Fight Club’.”
The script is written by Andrew Alexander, who is known more as a TV producer. Relative newcomer Martin Weisz (“The Hills Have Eyes II”) has just signed on to direct. Casting has not yet begun.
