Tarsem Singh’s project “Mirror, Mirror” comes out in March, yet there hasn’t been much buzz about it. On the other hand, “Snow White & The Huntsman” premieres much later next year, yet it’s already got a trailer out. While it’s not much more than a teaser, it gives us a good look at the world of the classic fairy tale as re-imagined by director Rupert Sanders. The CGI is a little shoddy, but that should be polished up by its release date. What’s interesting is the story seems to have a heavy focus on the Evil Queen (Charlize Theron) and her quest to rid the land of her one beauty rival. Theron’s British accent sounds a wee bit forced, though I prefer watching her anytime over Julia Roberts in a role like this (Tarsem’s film). Another not-too-encouraging sign is that the entire trailer doesn’t feature a speaking line by Snow White herself, Kristen Stewart. Could Universal Pictures’ marketing department be trying to mask a bad performance? Time will tell. The rest of it looks quite cool though. Chris Hemsworth is still looking and acting a little Thor-ish. Which is never a bad thing.

Anyway, here’s the official description: “In the epic action adventure, Stewart (“The Twilight Saga”) plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Theron) who is out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Hemsworth) who was dispatched to kill her.”

“Snow White & The Huntsman” premieres 1st June 2012.
