There seems to be a lot of movement in the DCEU. Hot on the heels of the news that Matt Reeves is directing “The Batman”, here comes another major announcement.
The Hollywood Reporter today broke the news that Warner Bros is planning a live-action solo movie about Nightwing, the original Robin, aka Dick Grayson, who later moved away from being Batman’s sidekick to embark on his own career as a crimefighter.
They’ve already scored a director in Chris McKay, the guy who helmed “The Lego Batman Movie”, as well as a scriptwriter in Bill Dubuque (“Bill Dubuque”). So it’s obvious that the project was in the works behind the scenes far longer than anyone’s realised.
The the comics, Nightwing started off as another protector of Gotham City, but then moved his base of operations to the neighboring town of Bludhaven. This isn’t the first time the character of Dick Grayson has appeared on the big screen, with Chris O’Donnell playing him (as Robin) in “Batman Forever” and “Batman & Robin”. He also popped up in animated form in McKay’s “The Lego Batman Movie”.
No word on what the solo movie will be about, nor has there been any talk of casting just yet. But we’ll definitely hear something pretty soon.
