“Deadpool 2” is currently set to go into production, and there are already plans for a third movie. A while back, when discussing the unlikely anti-hero franchise, there was talk that the sequel(s) would feature X-Men spinoff team X-Force and that’s as far as we would see them on the big screen. But now, writer Rhett Reese has cleared things up. Speaking to Cinema Blend, the “Deadpool” scribe confirmed that X-Force are getting their own standalone movie.
He said: “I also think (Deadpool 2) is working in an expansive way towards X-Force, which will really be more of an ensemble. But then that will allow us to do both an X-Force movie and a Deadpool 3, which actually contracts back down. I think we’ll be able to take two paths. One is where we’re launching something bigger, but then another where we’re contracting and staying personal and small. So I think best of all worlds, really.”
“Deadpool 2” is directed by David Leith (“Joh Wick”), from a script byReese and Paul Wernick. Along with star Ryan Reynolds, the sequel will introduce two key characters from the X-Force world, including luck-manipulating mutant Domino, who will be played by Zazie Beetz (Atlanta), and Cable, the time-traveling son of the X-Men’s Cyclops. Wolverine has also been a member of the team, but that’s going to be hard seeing how “Logan” ended. It remains to be seen if Psylocke will be a part of the big-screen X-Force. She was most recently seen in the godawful “X-Men: Apocalypse”, played by Olivia Munn.
