Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, Chris Pine. What do all these guys have in common? They’ve all played the famous(ish) CIA analyst character Jack Ryan from author Tom Clancy’s series of bestselling espionage thrillers. From “The Hunt For Red October”, to “Patriot Games”, to “The Sum Of All Fears”, Ryan has been the series’ mainstay. Now, he’s getting a movie titled after him. And Pine is the latest version of the character, who for some reason seems to keep getting younger and younger.

Paramount Pictures newest hope for a franchise restarter “Jack Ryan” is underway with filming currently taking place in Manhattan. Directing duties are handled by Brit actor Kenneth Branagh (“Thor”). He will also be appearing as the villain, pitting him against castmates Pine, Kevin Costner and Keira Knightley. Today, the studio released its first-ever bunch of stills from the film. They don’t reveal very much, and Pine looks like, well, Pine. I have to admit though, that it’s good to see Costner back in blockbuster movies. Here, he plays a legendary CIA Field Agent. Check it out…

“Jack Ryan” premieres Christmas Day 2013.

I dunno about this… Pine just doesn’t have the gravitas for me that Jack Ryan needs to have.

gwen10: I’m not the biggest fan of Pine either. I think he’s great in lighter, more comedic roles. Still, let’s see what he has to offer here…
