“Kingsman: The Secret Service” surprised a lot of people with just how good it was, and now it’s spawned a potential series, with the first follow-up “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” arriving this year.
I’m quite curious about where they’ll go with this franchise, and today Entertainment Weekly has given us our first taste of exactly what to expect. The outlet debuted a brand new batch of stills from the sequel, and they feature the Statesmen, the American counterparts of the elite British organisation.
EW also provided some details of what we’ll see this round: “Brand new, beyond-Bond gadgets include a mechanical attack dog and an electric cowboy-style lasso that slices through bad guys. And the new cast not only includes four Oscar winners, but is ridiculously cool, with Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges, Halle Berry and Game of Thrones‘ Pedro Pascal appearing as members of the Statesman, America’s Kingsman equivalent. Julianne Moore also costars as a Martha Stewart-ish global entrepreneur named Poppy and Elton John pops up as a “Vaughn-ized” (per the director) version of himself.”
Love that orange suit Eggsy is wearing. And Jeff Bridges looks kinda cool all clean shave like that. We’ve also included the teaser poster that was released earlier last month, which confirms the return of Colin Firth as the supposedly deceased Lancelot.
Here’s the official synopsis: “Kingsman: The Secret Service introduced the world to Kingsman – an independent, international intelligence agency operating at the highest level of discretion, whose ultimate goal is to keep the world safe. In Kingsman: The Golden Circle, our heroes face a new challenge. When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, their journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US called Statesman, dating back to the day they were both founded. In a new adventure that tests their agents’ strength and wits to the limit, these two elite secret organizations band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world, something that’s becoming a bit of a habit for Eggsy…”
“Kingsman: The Golden Circle” is directed by Matthew Vaughn from a script by Jane Goldman and Vaughn, and based on the comic book The Secret Service by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, and stars Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, Halle Berry with Sir Elton John, and Channing Tatum, and Jeff Bridges. It premieres 29th September.
