So, SPOILER ALERT, Superman is dead.

Kal-El valiantly sacrificed himself to save everyone in “Batman v Superman”, but frankly, nobody was expecting him to stay dead. Which is why Henry Cavill has been allowed to tease his character’s return in “Justice League”.

Today, the Brit actor took to Instagram to post a new photo. It shows a close-up of his Superman suit, which is lined with Kryptonian script that spells out a quote by author Joseph Campbell. In joke. But that’s not the interesting thing. What’s interesting is that the suit’s colour appears to be black. Now, we say appears to be because we can’t be sure if it’s the actual colour or if this is a black & white photo of his usual blue suit.

If it is indeed the former, then it’s a clear homage to the comicbooks, where Superman came back from the dead wearing an all-Black costume (with a silver S shield). Are we also going to see what many have speculated, which is an evil Kal-El? I sure hope not. BvS pretty much completed Superman/Clark Kent’s hero’s journey, and any subsequent portrayal of him should be the optimistic, lighter Supes that we know and love.

Here’s the official summary: “Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot will be reprising their roles as the DC Trinity, Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman in Warner Bros.‘ Justice League, and joining them are Jason Mamoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, and Ezra Miller as The Flash. Amber Heard is set to play Queen Mera in the film as well before moving to the solo Aquaman movie in 2018, with Willem Dafoe appearing as Atlantean Vulko, and J.K. Simmons playing Commissioner Gordon.

Directed by Zack Snyder (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Justice League will debut in theaters on November 10, 2017.”
