We’ve been hearing a lot of casting talk about who would play Cable in the “Deadpool” sequel. As comic fans know, Cable aka Nathan Summers is the son of Cyclops aka Scott Summers. His powers are telepathy, telekinesis, a knack for advanced tech, and a generally foul disposition. That last trait makes him a perfect foil for Deadpool. Recently, names like Brad Pitt, Michael Shannon, Russell Crowe, David Harbour (of TV’s “Stranger Things”) and Kyle Chandler have been mentioned to play him.
But today, The Hollywood Reporter brought confirmation that Cable will be played by Thanos himself, Josh Brolin. Yeah, so he’s already playing another Marvel character. Not the first time it’s happened though. Chris Evans was both Johnny Storm/The Human Torch AND Steve Rogers/Captain America. And he played them both brilliantly, I might add. Brolin is a damn fine actor, so this casting is good news.
Apparently, Brolin’s deal is said to comprise four films, which could include “Deadpool 3” as well as an “X-Force” movie.
In typical fashion Deadpool himself (actually, Ryan Reynolds) took to Twitter with a special message…
“Deadpool 2” will also introduce another major member of X-Force, Zazie Beetz (Atlanta) as Domino, a luck-manipulating mutant. The sequel will be directed by David Leitch (“John Wick”) from a screenplay by Reese and Paul Wernick.
