Looks like the studio is going all out to entice people to watch “Kong: Skull Island”. They’ve put together their last trailer before the movie comes out next week, and boy have they thrown everything in. There is a whole lot of new stuff to be gleaned from this footage, not least of which is (finally) a substantial idea of what Brie Larson’s character is like. Thus far, she’s been reduced to mostly one-liners and wide-eyed reactions. But the most impressive thing about this trailer is how well it’s put together. Full credit to the folks who edited this. It has a bracing energy and a rhythm not seen in any of its promo material thus far. And cut to the song “We’ve Got to Get Out of This Place” by the Animals, it has that retro-cool vibe. And we finally get to see what this version of Kong is capable of. And it is very promising…

Here’s the official synopsis: “A trip back to the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes, the Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures release tells the story of a diverse team of scientists, soldiers and adventurers uniting to explore a mythical, uncharted island in the Pacific, as dangerous as it is beautiful. Cut off from everything they know, the team ventures into the domain of the mighty Kong, igniting the ultimate battle between man and nature. As their mission of discovery becomes one of survival, they must fight to escape a primal Eden in which humanity does not belong.”

“Kong: Skull Island” is directed by Vogt-Roberts, scripted by John Gatins and Max Borenstein, and stars Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson John Goodman, Jing Tian, Toby Kebbell, John Ortiz, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, Shea Whigham, Thomas Mann, Terry Notary and John C. Reilly. It premieres 10th March.
