According to director Rian Johnson, production on “Star Wars: Episode VIII” has hit the halfway mark. And from everything we’ve seen so far, it’s shaping up to be something pretty special. Especially with Johnson’s rather unique vision. But if you’re worried he’s going to turn it into something that’s not Star Wars-y, perhaps his personal photos will reassure you.
Today, Johnson took to Tumblr and posted two new on-set images from the shoot! He also posted a comment (paraphrasing a line from “Army of Darkness”): “‘Good. Bad. I’m the guy with the microfiber sham’ I can’t believe we’re halfway through the shoot. (We’re halfway through the shoot!)”
Love these pics. The black & white lends it an air of classiness, and from the designs it’s clear that Johnson is staying true to the aesthetic of that galaxy far, far away.
Here’s the official details about the film: “Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is written and directed by Rian Johnson and continues the storylines introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, welcomes back cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Lupita Nyong’o, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis.
