Ben Affleck’s Batman went from one of the most protested to one of the most beloved. Design-wise, the Batsuit in “Batman v Superman” was simply perfect. But as we all know, every subsequent superhero movie always features at least one new suit. Gotta think of the merchandising, after all.
Shooting is still underway at Leavesden Studios, England for the sequel “Justice League”, and today director Zack Snyder shared an official photo of Affleck in what he called a “Tactical Batsuit”. Snyder’s Twitter post was accompanied by this quote: “Homestretch. Last day filming Batman in the new Tactical Batsuit.”
What do you think? I think the suit falls into the trap that many so-called upgrades suffer from — it’s over-designed. From what I understand those plates all over the suit are meant to be additional armour-plating. But the suit in BvS was already sufficiently armour-plated, as seen in the warehouse assault scene. Still, I could live with these mods. But what I’m really not crazy about are those weird goggles. It makes Batman look like he’s going swimming. In the kiddie pool. I’m being mean. Obviously the lenses are meant to offer some kind of advantage, like night vision or thermal vision. In any case, hopefully this new suit will look better in motion on the big screen.
Here’s the official synopsis: “Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot will be reprising their roles as the DC Trinity, Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman in Warner Bros.‘ Justice League, and joining them are Jason Mamoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, and Ezra Miller as The Flash. Amber Heard is set to play Queen Mera in the film as well before moving to the solo Aquaman movie in 2018, with Willem Dafoe appearing as Atlantean Vulko, and J.K. Simmons playing Commissioner Gordon.”
“Justice League” is directed by Zack Snyder. It premieres 10th November 2017.
