Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of the bestselling novel “Ready Player One” is now in pre-production, and it’s a welcome return to science-fiction for the master filmmaker who gave us “E.T.” and “Minority Report”. And the most exciting thing is, we the audience stand a chance to be a part of the film!
Here’s a video call-to-action for this contest featuring author Ernest Cline, who invites anyone with a creative streak to design their own “Ready Player One” avatars. The five best designs will be selected to appear in Spielberg’s finished film. Your 15 minutes (maybe 15 seconds) of fame awaits!
Here’s the official synopsis: “In the year 2044, reality is an ugly place. The only time teenage Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the virtual utopia know as the OASIS. Wade’s devoted his life to studying the puzzles hidden within the confines of this digital world, puzzles that are based on their creator’s obsession with the pop culture of decades past and that promise massive power and fortune to whoever can unlock them. But when Wade stumbles upon the first clue, he finds himself beset by players willing to kill to take this ultimate prize. The race is on, and if Wade’s going to survive, he’ll have to win – and confront the real world he’s been so desperate to escape.
A Warner Bros. Pictures, Village Roadshow Pictures and DreamWorks Pictures production, the Ready Player One movie is being directed by Spielberg, who is also producing alongside Donald De Line, under his De Line Pictures banner, Dan Farah and Kristie Macosko Krieger. Bruce Berman will serve as executive producer. The film stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, with Simon Pegg and Mark Rylance.”
“Ready Player One” premieres 30th March 2018.
