This is the third time Jennifer Lawrence is working with Bradley Cooper, after David O. Russell’s “Silver Linings Playbook” and “American Hustle”. The pair have an easy on-screen chemistry that makes them quite enjoyable to watch, even when they’re not necessarily playing a couple. This time they are, in period-set romantic epic “Serena”. It’d be good for Lawrence in particular to have the focus shift back to her acting after the recent nude selfies scandal. As for Cooper, I can’t hear him speak now without hearing just a wee bit of Rocket Raccoon in there. LOL. But he’s a good actor, so it shouldn’t be too hard for us to buy him as a 1920s timber tycoon.
Here’s the official synopsis: “North Carolina mountains at the end of the 1920s – George and Serena Pemberton, love-struck newly-weds, begin to build a timber empire. Serena soon proves herself to be equal to any man: overseeing loggers, hunting rattle-snakes, even saving a man’s life in the wilderness. With power and influence now in their hands, the Pembertons refuse to let anyone stand in the way of their inflated love and ambitions. However, once Serena discovers George’s hidden past and faces an unchangeable fate of her own, the Pembertons’ passionate marriage begins to unravel leading toward a dramatic reckoning.”
“Serena” is directed by Susanne Bier and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Toby Jones, and Rhys Ifans. It has no confirmed release date yet.
