Osama bin Laden is one of the most infamous/inspiring names in contemporary world history, depending on who you ask. He’s also apparently dead as a doornail, thanks to a US military incursion late last year in Pakistan. The global headline-grabbing incident involved a group of special ops commandoes known as Navy SEAL Team Six, who invaded a small residential compound in the middle of the desert, where they found the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks. And they pumped him full of bullets. “Zero Dark Thirty” is a retelling of the events leading up to (and including) this dramatic mission.
The film’s release was originally slated in Autumn, but was postponed after complaints that it would influence voters in favour of President Barack Obama in the upcoming US Elections. Personally, I’m just looking forward to another taught political action thriller from Kathryn Bigelow, director of “The Hurt Locker” and “Strange Days”.
“Zero Dark Thirty” stars Jessica Chastain, Joel Edgerton, Mark Strong, Edgar Ramirez, Jennifer Ehle, Chris Pratt, Kyle Chandler, and Nina Arianda. It premieres 19th December in the US. Expect it to be banned here due to the “sensitive” subject matter.
