The cast of Legendary Pictures’ next giant monster movie is getting pretty exciting. “Godzilla: King Of The Monsters” already has Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown (of TV’s “Stranger Things”), Bradley Whitford and returning cast member Ken Watanabe. Now, they’ve added Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi into the mix, and I am beginning to imagine what kind of chemistry this will result in. Zhang is of course no stranger to us in the East, but she is known to Western audiences for roles in “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” and “Memoirs Of A Geisha”.

According to Legendary, Zhang has signed on for a “major franchise role”. The sequel is set several years after the events of 2014’s “Godzilla”, and her character is said to be a “significant figure within the covert Monarch organization established in that film.”

As for the cast of monsters, Legendary previously revealed the addition of several more famous Toho kaiju, including Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah.

“Godzilla: King Of The Monsters” is directed by Michael Dougherty, and co-written by him alongside Zach Shields. It premieres 22nd March 2019.
